Technomarbles (or synthetic marbles) are artificial rock formations made by admixing natural marble fragments or powder, polyester resin and mineral pigments. They have fewer pores than natural marble. This makes them stain resistant, but it also deprives them of the special texture of the marble.
They are mainly used as flooring tiles, but they are more sensitive to high temperatures, so it is preferable to use them indoors. They are also used for the preservation of statues and monuments.
